It’s been an inspiring journey joining with Pixel-Arc and the award-winning Jeremy Blake to design our first showcase net-zero home at Mutford Wood in East Anglia. Our goal was to challenge current construction standards and restrictions to build a Hemspan House that would innovate with new and truly sustainable materials.

We reflected on the evolution of British housing structures and its heritage from the Tudor homes of the 1400’s to the Victorian style of the 1800’s all the way to present day modern minimalism. Designing for the aspirational home-owner and integrating the advancements in technology of bio-based materials, we are future-proofing our homes for the next generation.

As we enter into the pre-planning stage meeting with the local council and sharing our vision, we invite you to come along with us throughout this process as we push through modern methods of construction and grow the homes of the future.

Our Mutford Wood home is being designed to Passivhaus thermal performance standards to deliver a building with ultra-low running costs, together with a standard 10-year warranty. Using Hemp and other natural and bio-based materials where possible means we can lock up more carbon than we produce during the construction phase.

Our Net-Zero construction method boasts integrated photovoltaic roof panels, hemp-fibre insulation, hemp lime render, renewable timber structural frame and integrated rain water collection and recycling.

Elevated living connects the flow between indoor and outdoor spaces, maximising light airy spaces, solar shading, bio-philic design, and the reflection of British heritage architecture.

We design the homes of tomorrow that are ready to be delivered now.
